What it is
A sadhu board is a board with evenly spaced nails that you stand on barefoot. The first seconds are intense; then, if you keep breathing slowly, the sensation changes into warmth and a very clear, present state of mind. People use it to train focus, patience and endurance.
Your first sessions
- Start with 1–2 minutes. There is no prize for standing longer.
- Stand next to a wall or a chair so you can hold on.
- Step on slowly, shifting weight from one foot to the other.
- Breathe out long and slowly. The breath is the whole practice.
- Step off slowly and sit for a minute with your eyes closed.
Making it a habit
Add a minute every few days if it feels right. Many people practise in the morning, before their day starts, or combine it with a few minutes of singing bowl sound.
Take care
If you have a health condition, problems with circulation or the skin of your feet, or you are pregnant, check with your doctor before you start. Stop if you feel dizzy.
Copper or aluminum
Our sadhu boards come in copper and aluminum versions. Both are compact and come with a bag and a practice guide. Aluminum is lighter and easier to travel with.
