Sound
A handpan sounds soft and long. The ding in the centre is the lowest note, with the tone fields arranged around it. Every note belongs to one scale, so whatever you play sounds musical, even on day one.
How to play
You play with your fingertips and palm, using light bouncing strokes. No force needed: the lighter the touch, the cleaner the note. Rest it on your lap or on a stand. A couple of simple rhythms are enough to start, and our lessons take you further.
What it is good for
Meditation and breathwork, sound healing, yoga, a calm improvisation in the evening after work. It sounds good on its own and together with singing bowls or a flute.
Care
After playing, wipe the surface with a soft dry cloth to remove fingerprints. Keep it out of direct sun, hot cars and damp rooms. Store it in its case. Hard hits and drops can knock it out of tune.

No. It is played intuitively, without music theory. Most people make beautiful sounds within minutes.
